We are Markus and Bernhard, the founders of SustainNest.
With SustainNest, we have made it our mission to build houses that are not only ecologically and economically convincing, but also stand out in terms of design and quality. Our innovative buildings are fully reversible, which means that they can be adapted to different locations and uses - in the spirit of sustainable, circular construction.

Together with my brother, I realized our dream: Schmoltis Chalet.
A unique chalet at the foot of the Schöckl with a breathtaking view over Graz. Since then, we have been running it successfully and creating a place where guests can relax and enjoy nature.
But my journey did not end there. The experience of preserving something old and creating something new at the same time inspired me to go further. So, together with Bernhard, I developed SustainNest - with the aim of creating the perfect, flexible and sustainable house and realizing innovative tourism projects. SustainNest stands for more than just building: It creates spaces for new, valuable memories and stories that can unfold in ecologically and economically convincing architecture.

Bernhard Grentner

CFO and Managing Director
For over 20 years I worked as managing partner of Innofreight Solutions in the freight wagon industry.
But my roots lie in Breitenau, where I grew up and spend my life. Nature has always been a central point in my life, especially the close connection to agriculture and forestry.
This passion also gave rise to my commitment to environmentally friendly construction with wood. Together with Markus, my goal is to create houses that blend harmoniously into the landscape and are designed sustainably at the same time. However, our focus is not only on environmental aspects, but also on the highest quality and attractive design.
Our claim: A house that can do everything – a place where sustainability, comfort and aesthetics go hand in hand.
Our goal is clear: Austria’s best house.
